Chances are, you have already started sewing for Fall. I can honestly say, I have not been sewing for my kids as much as I used to. There are a few reasons as to why this seems to be the case, and I believe this pertains not only to me – but to the rest of the sewing bloggers that used to primarily focus on kid sewing.
Reason No. 2 – Fabric is expensive. And as we have grown in our sewing ability, the type of fabric we are using has grown with us. We want soft, organic, easy to care for fabrics that will stand the test of time. This is not always reasonable or cost efficient when sewing for our children, considering they will stain/grow out of said clothing within months.
Reason No. 3 – We are bored. After you have sewn one million little girl’s dresses, they can start to blend together.
Reason No. 4 – To embellish on reason no. 3, in order to grow we need to try new things. Which means many people who used to sew a lot for kids are now sewing for themselves. This is a new challenge, to learn how to fit their own body and make clothes fit to perfection. And once we start, it is hard to stop. After all, our bodies are not like the kids – ever changing (hopefully). Once we make something, we hope to own it and wear it for a long, long time. This makes the investment in sewing ones clothes, the time and effort and cost involved, much more reasonable.
Now all of that being said, I still love to sew for my kids. Seeing them in my handmade creations gives me a sense of pride, knowing that they are walking around in handmade LOVE.
So in order to get my creative kid-sewing juices flowing, I thought maybe a little research was in order. What were some kid sewing patterns that I thought would look FRESH this Fall / Winter season? Here is what I found…

Happy sewing.
I love your taste Jessica! The yellow tunic dress is so pretty and the blouse and dress is so frilly and girly I love it! Have you tried any of the patterns yourself? I would ideally like to try the blouse dress but I’m afraid the pattern might be a bit too advanced.
You don’t happen to have any kind of pattern for the chip costume do you??
I am looking for one for my toddler grandsons for halloween and am unable to find one
thanks
