Ahhhh…the Summer of our youth. When I would spend hours upon days upon weeks making friendship bracelets out of embroidery thread for myself and all of my besties. Pinning them to my shorts, and silently cursing when the bracelets would inevitably twist. Trying to remember which thread color went next, how many knots I had already made, and determining if the bracelet was long enough yet. Its all of these awesome little moments that add up to make life special. So when I stumbled across some Nantucket bracelets last Summer in Maine (aka sailor bracelets), I immediately snatched some up!
Sailor bracelets, I would wear those bracelets each and every Summer growing up until the cord darn near fell off my wrist in tatters by Labor Day. Since last Summer, every time I wear my sailor bracelet from Maine I get the hugest smile on my face. It just brings me back to a place of blue jean shorts on a sticky leather seat listening to Parents Just Don’t Understand or Heaven is a Place on Earth on the radio. (Those were my jams! Lol). And while I am usually all for sharing, when my daughters kept trying to steal my Maine mementos, I wasn’t having it. It was silly of me not to have bought them their own in the first place. So instead, this Summer we made matching family sailor bracelets. And it has been the absolute JOY of my heart to watch my middle daughter in particular wear her bracelet, just like her Momma. Although she tends to like to wear hers as an anklet.
While there are many Nantucket bracelet DIYs on the web, I wanted something easier. Something that my daughters could make on their own. So I came up with a Nantucket bracelet DIY of my own, using a total cheater method.
