You know those patterns that you see over and over again in your feed? Before long you find yourself thinking, ‘this is a pattern that I need in my life’. The women’s Waterfall Raglan women’s by Chalk and Notch was one of those patterns for me.
I kept seeing photo after glorious photo of this seemingly simply, yet utterly flattering pattern. And each picture seemed to be better than the last! It was feminine, with just a hint of bohemian style, and flowy in a way that would be cute and comfortable with either jeans or leggings.
After a few weeks I finally broke down and decided that I needed this shirt in my handmade life.

Thoughts on Pattern:
The pattern was well designed, with clear concise graphic illustrations and instructions. I was easily able to assemble the pattern pieces, and print out only the pages I needed. (I love it when pattern companies let me know exactly what pages are needed to print for the view I want to make.) The pattern pages were also numbered, making it even easier to assemble (another thing I love, so that I am not putting together a jigsaw pattern puzzle). I feel like from start to finish, including pattern assembly, this shirt was done in under 2 hours. The fit is spot on, and the sleeves are seriously on point. I used Therm O Web Soft Stretch to help with the hemming of this shirt, and sewed a double needle long straight stitch over the fusible knit web, and it was phenomenal for this stretchy jersey knit. I was a little worried that the ruffle would hit in a place that would be unflattering on me, especially since my hips don’t lie. But after wearing the shirt, I am surprised at how flattering it really is. I feel like this shirt is magic. My only alteration would be a slightly larger pocket next time around – not much, maybe an inch or so. Just something so that I don’t feel like I have a baby pocket on my boob.
I foresee a few more of these shirts in my Springtime wardrobe before the month is through.
