There comes a time in every parents life when we have to make hard choices. Obviously, this happens time and time again. For us, one of those times came when our eldest daughter kept asking the question, ‘Is Santa Real?’. And she wanted the truth this time. She is ten, it is only natural. She has friends talking at school, and she is confused and doesn’t know what to believe. She wants to believe in the magic that is Christmas, the magical man that climbs down our chimney in the middle of the night leaving presents for good little boys and girls. We all want to believe in that.
The problem was, she kept asking in front of her little brother and sister. And while we were ready to answer our eldest, we were not ready to burst the bubble of innocence yet for them. So we did what a lot of parents do, we lied.
Now I am not saying there is anything wrong with letting kids believe in Santa. In fact, I think there is something truly special about kids looking for reindeer in the night sky, leaving cookies out for parents to eat while they are sleeping, writing out Christmas letters…heck, I even love the Elf on the Shelf!
But there does come a point in life when it is TIME. As a parent, we can either face that challenge head on – or we can defer to society to help our children make up their minds. The choice seems obvious. Only you as a parent know when that time is, when it is right for you and for your child.
Is Santa Real?
A book for parents to share with their kids…when it’s TIME.
I was getting ready one morning, in the middle of blow drying my hair, when the words in this book started flooding my head. I immediately stopped what I was doing so that I could write them down. That was a few months back, and I have been working tirelessly ever since to publish this book. I am beyond excited today to announce that the book is officially for sale!
Is Santa Real? Is a poem answering the question, Is Santa Real?, in a child friendly way that points to the true reason for the Season for a believer.
It is my hope that this book will help parents teach their kids the truth about Christmas, when the time is right for them, while still keeping the magic alive.
You are not alone in answering these tough questions. We all have to face them, whether it is Santa, the Easter Bunny, where do babies come from, or more. May this book help you and encourage you, as you create more memories together. The memory of bonding with your child as you talk about the true meaning of Christmas.
Furthermore, I understand that the holidays can be a time of financial hardship for many. For that reason, I am also making this poem available as a free download, which you can get by clicking HERE.
This book is obviously a departure from my normal work. But when you feel God calling in your life, you move. All I can say is that I have felt Him moving mightily in my life lately, and have had to sweep out a lot of cobwebs in order to make room. It has been painful at times, but He has helped me every step of the way. Even when I wanted to bang my head on my desk because I had no idea what I was doing – through illustrations, book creation, and more. Every time I wanted to say I CAN’T DO THIS LORD!!! He was faithful, and He could. So thank you so much in advance for your love and support.
Wishing everyone a happy, safe, and joyful Thanksgiving holiday!
