As you know, we have only had our adopted puppy for about 6 months now. Up until this time, he has LOVED being outside with us. Anytime, anywhere he is begging to come along for the trek. Heck, he even wants to go on 2 mile runs with us around the lake! Then Summer hit.
Suddenly, our outdoor puppy wanted nothing more than shady spots underneath the tree. And who can blame him? I would probably feel the same way if I was covered in fur. Not wanting him to miss out on all of the backyard fun and adventure, I thought a little portable shade was in order. Something we could take with us to the beach, pool, camping, and of course – just pop up in our own backyard.

The above photos are from our neighbors backyard. Below is our own backyard, where I had to painstakingly photoshop out all of the background construction and cleverly take angled photos to try to minimize the construction clutter. The neighbor’s greenery just looked nicer for the photos and video. Luckily I am great friends with them, and am essentially in their backyard every day anyway. HA! Lord I am going to be one happy Momma once our house is finally finished.
I had to give Sampson treats to go into the tent at first, but now that he understands what it is for…he loves it! I find him hanging out in the tent all of the time, without any persuasion. Definitely a DIY winner.
Thanks so much for stopping by, and until next time…
Happy sewing!
We don’t have a dog but I think this is absolutely genius. I might even make one for the kids at sports events!
