This is one of those totally ridiculous posts. You see, I really wanted pretty activewear. So I whipped up these cute floral leggings for running. I used a lightweight scuba knit, so that they would have a nice sturdy ‘weight’ to them – and my body wouldn’t be all over the place while running. I thought it was genius.
Then my husband saw them. He hates them.
I thought he was crazy, I mean – could they be any cuter?!!
But you know that moment when you start to doubt yourself? Maybe I was the crazy one. So here goes – a stupid, shallow, yay or nay post. What do you think?
Floral activewear – yay or nay?
Leave a comment. Am I crazy, or is my husband the crazy one?
PS – you won’t hurt my feelings if you are a nay. Just be nice about it – lol!
On a side note – I have worn these jogging pants out to exercise since I initially wrote this post. My verdict on scuba knit as activewear? It is great for WINTER or even cool FALL active apparel. But for the Summer or Spring, when the temperatures are warm – I would definitely not recommend it. The scuba knit fabric is not breathable, and you are definitely hot. It holds in the heat your body builds up while running, instead of letting it breath like normal activewear does. Furthermore, the fabric is less stretchable then regular activewear fabric – so you need to allot for a bit more seam allowance than you normally would. But it definitely kept me warm as I ran around the lake here in Winter. So that was good :).
Thanks so much for stopping by, until next time…
Happy sewing!
Totally a yay!
I love it (but with a name like Daisy Flowers I love all things floral)! In fact, I’ve got some awesome floral ponte on it’s way here to make pants out of, and I’m working on my 2nd floral summer top. Not that I’ll wear the tops with the floral pants, that’s too much even for me! But there are a multitude of solid tops that can be worn with floral bottoms, so I say go for it!
Love them! It’s fun to have crazy pants to go with plain tops!
All I can think is, who cares what he thinks!?
I think they are super cute! You like them. You feel good in them, let him know that you’re sure there will be other guys out there that will probably admire them on you with out taking issue with the pattern. ;D
I love them! I don’t wear large patterns (cause I’m fat) but I love, love, love them on you. Go forth and conquer. 😀
I love it!
I think those are so cute. I hate working out so very much. Sometimes I dream of burning my gym down with my trainer in it 😉 But these leggings would at the very least make me feel cute while working out on the dreaded tread mill.
I love them! But I know my husband would hate them too 😉
I have a pair of scuba knit leggings that I wear to hot yoga ( you are already dying of heat- what’s a little extra) but I do find that they are a little too snug even though I cut them bigger.

I absolutely love them. My husband would say the same thing as your husband, I try to ignore him but it gives me reason to doubt myself too. Maybe the pants are just too cute.
Anything bright, cheerful and warm enough to make running in the winter more pleasurable is definitely a keeper! Hubby is jealous 🙂
I’m not a big fan of the scuba fabric even if it were black. But I think if you love it, go for it. I might wear the print with a long top….butt covered and less loud. Always always step out there and try something new! Go Jess!
Yay!! My husband isn’t wild about floral prints either. Dudes, what do the know anyway? 😉
I love them. I think they look great on you. I plan on making floral leggings!
I was all ready to try on some RTW floral activewear capris, but before I could grab one off the rack, my husband started joking about florals and elderly women. So, I passed… But I *love* the idea of pretty activewear!!!
Yay because florals and patterns are great for hiding figure flaws which is +10 in my book!
I think the leggings are fantastic. I vote that you keep wearing them and owning it, especially since you are out exercising and others are still sitting on their rear ends. I am loving your Activewear posts lately…going to try to DIY sports bra later this week.
My love for loud fabrics has no bounds. So, I say it is a yea! But I do get your husband’s point of view. I have a pair I sewed up in red velvet that my husband endearingly calls Lieberace pants. Perhaps you can name them something ironic like: death of the void.
Gorgeous! I would feel great running in those!
Love them! And As far as your husband’s opinion goes, I’m guessing that there could be a thing or two in HIS closet that you look at then turn away in horror.
Adorable!! Love ’em!!
If the patterns makes you feel like wearing them, this call is yours! So unless he’s going running with you and he gets dangerously distracted by the flowers so he’s worried he might run into traffic or trip over a large rock or something, it’s a yes from me.
