Have you ever read the book Uni the Unicorn (affiliate link)? It is this adorable book about a unicorn, that believes humans are real. And although all the other unicorns laugh at her for her naivety, Uni knows deep down that there is a very special, very REAL, little girl out there. I love the story of this book, how Uni doesn’t let what others think change her beliefs. How she is true to herself, and stands up for what she believes in. And I love that my daughter, who also happens to have a lot of these characteristics and traits, somehow connected with this book on a very personal level and keeps it near her bedside most nights.
She probably loves the book because it is about unicorns. But as a Mother, I love seeing the parallel connection that the book happens to have with my daughter’s personality. And when you have kids that love to play dress up as much as mine do, and they also happen to love unicorns…you make unicorn headbands.
Then you explain why they can’t wear unicorn headbands to school.
