Along with the rest of the nation, we have Star Wars fever. My husband and I went to see the Force Awakens on opening weekend and it was EPIC. From the movie being truer to the original Star Wars, to moviegoers dressed up in character, to high-fiving strangers sitting next to you when something awesome happened…we had a blast. We even found ourselves reminiscing about the first time we saw Star Wars in the theater as kids.
For me it was at the Catlow Theater in Barrington, IL (where I am originally from before I moved to NY at the age of 7). The Catlow is a special theater in this picturesque village, a building that dates back to 1927 designed in tudor style that remains standing and showing movies to this day. I remember being a very small girl, holding my Uncle’s hand (whom I absolutely idolized) as he brought me to the movies. It was the first time I recall ever going to the movies. And while I do not remember the movie itself…I remember stars and the opening music and scene…I DO remember the feeling I had of being special being there with my Uncle. I felt loved.
I actually have a painting of the landmark Catlow theater hanging in my house now, gifted to me by my Grandma, and it is one of my most prized possessions. Some things have a hold on our hearts, for reasons beyond comprehension.

Happy sewing!
This is so weird. I grew up a town over from Barrington. My husband and I *still* go to the Catlow (they recently got all new seats!). This is, like, two very opposite parts of my life coming together very suddenly.
*ahem* Anyway.
Star Wars! So far I’ve seen it twice and it just gets better!
As a rabid Star Wars fan myself, I love this! If you print them out smaller, they’d make for great valentines 🙂
Thank you so much for this! I have had it bookmarked since you posted it on Instagram. We’re moving my 2 boys into a shared superhero room and this will be perfect included in a gallery wall. Thanks again!
