Make this Look: Classic Crop

It’s 4pm, and you think you are wrapping up for the day. It has been a successful day actually, all has been quiet. You got a lot of work done, and you even took a nice 2 hour break to lunch with your Mom. Just as you decide to go fold laundry and start dinner, an e-mail comes through.

It’s your child’s music teacher.

They are having a practice performance TOMORROW that the kids need to be in uniform attire for.

WHAAAAAAAAAAT?!!!!

There goes my evening of peaceful tranquility. Lol. Thank goodness I am a prepared person by nature, and already had the fabric and pattern picked out for the actual performance next week.

That girl. Gah, I love her so much. She is getting so big!

Time needed: 2 hours (includes the printing out of the pattern and taping together)

Skill level: Beginner friendly (must know how to sew buttons and buttonholes)

Crop Top materials used:

  • Pattern – Mingo & Grace Crop Set
  • Fabric – Doodles Collection – Majestic Quilted Solid Knit Fabric Ivory
  • Buttons – Plaid, see comparable buttons HERE

Other items in look:

  • Black Ponte Pants – Target
  • T-Strap Ballet Flats – Target
  • Hair – french braid around the side and bottom of hair line, with the tail wrapped up and under and pinned in place.

Thoughts:

The pattern actually comes with a fabulous and easy to sew skirt to make the crop and skirt set. I did whip up a skirt, but used a funky sweater knit material which was entirely too bulky. The skirt fit quite well, but in the end – I just didn’t like it because of the material I used (which was not recommended in the pattern instructions, you should always listen to fabric recommendations!).

I love the way this crop top came out, and will absolutely sew this pattern again. It has a classic streamline look, with fabulous clean facings. The fit is spot on, and it will look great with skirts, pants, or shorts. Love it.

This is not the first Mingo & Grace pattern I have sewn, and it certainly won’t be the last. Every single pattern of hers that I have ever made is impeccably put together, with professional finished results. I am a huge fan. She is one of the designers that I can depend upon, knowing that when I sew one of her patterns – it will always come out fantastic.

The next time you need a handmade outfit in a hurry, be sure to check out Mingo & Grace. You won’t regret it.

All you need is a paper clip to turn your mask into a bracelet, when you don’t need to use it but are still out and about. I wrote a blog post to show how easy it is. And even came up with another idea that is, dare I say it, even EASIER than this 🤪👊🏻. Link in bio - and thank you!
