Finishing off our Summer vacation, we spent the last 2 weeks in Hawaii. I would love to say that everything was sunshine and roses on this trip, but it just wasn’t.
That is not to say that we didn’t have an incredible time. Even in the trying circumstances of life, there is much joy to be had. And we made memories aplenty. I am simply stating the truth. We struggled on this trip. Hawaii was gorgeous, and amazing, and everything one would expect it to be. We spent the majority of our time at the Disney Aulani resort. The purpose of this trip wasn’t to explore Hawaii, but rather to spend time together with our Mima, who does not get to see the kids often. And her heart’s desire was the spend the entire week soaking up all that Disney had to offer with her grandkids.
From snorkeling, to water slides, to beach parties with characters – Disney had it all. And we spent every day soaking everything up.
We did go off property for a few evenings to enjoy local fare, and attended an absolutely AMAZING luau. The luau at Pirate Cove was probably my favorite part of the trip. Everything about it was simply captivating. Our eldest daughter will remember being brought up on stage to dance with the ladies and learn the hula for the rest of her life.
But between the cancelled flights, the pink eye, the urgent care strep throat visit, the stomach bug, the common cold, the elevator button tantrums, and the jet lag…this trips had its ups and downs.
Why do I tell you all of this? Because I know how easy it can be to look at photos and feel like your life isn’t as exciting as so-and-so’s. I experience it all of the time when browsing Pinterest and Facebook, that ‘my life stinks, or I am not as good’ feeling. I thought an intro that mirrored reality was a better way to go for this particular post.
Sewing Rabbit Travels – Hawaii.
Here are the mostly beautiful, don’t you wish you were here, photos.
And….the other side of the coin photo.
Thanks so much for stopping by, and until next time…
Happy Sewing!
You’re precious, Jess! I remember very much what it was like traveling with three small children (also two girls and a boy). It is not all sunshine and roses. But hopefully the children will remember it that way when they grow up!
Beautiful pics, beautiful family. And those elevator button tantrums are well known to me to. I try to take the stairs with my kids whenever possible…
Haha keeping it real!! Don’t I know how that goes.
Glad you still had some good times!!!
Life is full of ups and downs, sick children, er visits, delayed flights, and wonderfully happy moments … it is the journey that is to be remembered. I try not to, but when I watch the news – refugees fleeing for their lives with nothing but the clothing they are wearing, I see our trials and tribulations as minor in comparison. At least we have flights to delay us, emergency rooms to visit and food on our plates.
Thanks for your blog, it enlarges my life from my little island in the middle of the Pacific!
Mahalo and Aloha ….
