After London, we flew to Ireland for a wedding in Dingle. We spent 4 days in this lovely country, and it was nowhere near enough. I am convinced that I need to come back to Ireland for a month with the whole family. The countryside was simply stunning, and it was so family friendly!
Whereas in London – you were hard pressed to find kids, in Ireland they were everywhere! Running through castle ruins, eating at the pubs, playing outside. Ireland made me want to rent an RV and travel around the country for a month – and you STILL wouldn’t come close to seeing everything the emerald isle has to offer.

We rented a house through VRBO in Dingle for a few days, and then stayed at the Old Weir Lodge in Killarney. Both are HIGHLY recommended. Simply fabulous. And my husband rented a car while we were there in order to travel back and forth from the airport. A rental car is a must for getting around Ireland, and let’s just say – it was fun driving on the ‘wrong side’ of the road. HA!
Something unexpected on this trip was all of the local handmade textiles found in Dingle.
Lots of hand spun yarn and linens.
I wish I could share photos from the wedding with you, but I will respect the privacy of the lovely couple :). But let’s just say – the Irish sure know how to throw a proper wedding!!! It was 14+ hours long, from traditional Irish storytelling to songs to a proper Irish band, river dancers, rainbows, a DJ and more. Best wedding ever, and of course – we couldn’t love the couple more.
Ireland was a true treasure – and I am honored to have had the change to visit and spend so much time with friends in a spectacular country. I hope you get the chance to visit someday.
As always, thanks so much for stopping by, and until next time…
Happy Sewing!
Oh, Ireland is amazing! My husband’s family is from Cork County so I know that area the best but we’ve stayed in Killarney and it’s spectacular. So much fun to see your pictures. The Irish are so family-friendly; kids are treasured for sure. Keep having a great time! Love seeing the pics.
Thanks for sharing. My husband and I took a tour of Ireland a few years ago and loved it very much. We often talk about going back again. When I returned home, I was going through some of the pamphlets I received before the trip and found the perfect description of Ireland and the Irish people……A visit to Ireland will restore your faith in humanity. We found the friendliest people there.
Thank you so much for your wonderful photos and description of England and Ireland. IF I ever get there, I hope I see it with the same eyes you did. So lovely..
