I love it when I stumble across something older, and it is suddenly new again. That is what happened when I recovered the braided dress free girl’s dress pattern.
Released more than 4 years ago, the braided dress was one of my first designs. At the time it was a hand drawn pattern, with poor quality photos. In an effort to revamp and update older patterns, I brought it back to the drafting table – digitized it and had my good friend Celina of Petit à Petit & Family sew and photograph the dress.
The results? Incredible!!!

**Please refer your friends to this page when wanting to share the pattern! Do not e-mail the file directly. Why? Because you see those ads on the sidebar? That is how I get paid. ‘Pageview traffic’ and ‘affiliate links’ are a part of my salary, and I appreciate every single person who visits my site! So thank you, thank you for being here and for downloading the Braided Dress, and for referring your friends to this site to do the same. It means the world to me :).
Also – you are more than welcome to sell dresses made by using this pattern. I would be absolutely delighted to know that I am helping a seamstress out there put food on her table in her handmade shop!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and until next time…
Happy Sewing!
This is adorable Jess! Thank you for sharing this.
I don’t have a blog but I do understand about the “traffic issues”. I do have an Etsy shop and have begun selling dresses I make. You should add that if items are sold using your pattern that a statement similar to “Dress made, with permission, using a pattern by Jess Abbot… (then inserting your web address.)
It’s the least a small business owner should do to thank the original designer. IMHO…
Thanks again!
Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing an oldie but goodie!
Love the dress, and the pattern, thanks for updating! Xo
Oh man, I love that braided element!! Saving this idea for later. 🙂
Love it ! Will steal this idea for making me a dress for this summer …
Thank you for the pattern. My granddaughter is growing like a weed and will love the braided dress.
Am I missing something, in the description the dress goes up to 6 but when printing out the pattern pieces they just go up to 5. Is there another document or something? Do you describe how to size up somewhere?
Nevermind my comment…..I was clicking on the link in the pattern that goes to the old pattern pieces instead of scrolling to the bottom to see the new “digitized” pattern.
Love it! Was wondering if it’s possible to make an adult version of this?
I love the pattern and really appreciate that you are so generous as to share it! Thank you!
