Dishwasher Safe Fabric Platter DIY

Have you seen dishwasher safe mod podge yet? SO COOL!  I grabbed some fat quarters and went to work on some plain white dishes I had. Perfect for housewarming or wedding gifts! With dishwasher safe mod podge, the possibilities are endless. I don’t know about eating off of them, or putting it in the oven…but for a serving platter it is perfect! So easy, anyone can do this project.

Dishwasher Safe Fabric Platter DIY.

  • Paint Brush or Sponge
  • Dishware

HOW TO:

Step One: Cut various sized strips of your fabric to accommodate the dish size.

Step Two: Making sure your dish is clean and dry, paint a thin layer of mod podge on it.

Step Three: Place your fabric on top of your mod podge, and gently smooth out any creases or bubbles.

Step Four: Cut off excess fabric on the sides. Repeat for all sides, or all around your dishware.

Step Five: Once your fabric is on your dishware, use a paint brush or sponge again and paint a thin layer of mod podge over your fabric. Make sure you cover the entire fabric, as well as the edges.

Step Six: If a monogram is desired, cut out your monogram letter, and apply it to your dish. Once again, paint over the monogram with the mod podge as you did in the previous step.

Step Seven: Allow mod podge to dry fully. If desired, you can add another layer of mod podge to your creation over the fabric for added security. (I did.)

Add a magnet to the bottom, and this would be an adorable magnetic pin dish!

What a wonderful DIY. I have never heard of the mod podge before. This came just in time as I have a house warming next week and it will be an excellent and thoughtful gift. Off to search where to buy this product in Australia now!!!

    Thanks for sharing 🙂

Holy potatoes this is such an adorable idea. I actually designed my own fabric that I’ve been trying to come up with even more ways to use. This is all sorts of awesome and would make super cute gifts.

Dishwasher safe mod podge is non toxic, but not food safe. Don’t use it on parts that touch food.

Hi. This is a fantastic idea. When you add the mod podge to the monogram, are you only covering the monogram or the entire top of the dish? Thank you.
