Sometimes you need something fancy for your hair – FAST. Such was the case with my wardrobe for Alt Summit when they announced a ‘Downton Abbey’ theme for the Thursday night bash. Downton Abbey, in love with the show…but not necessarily my sense of fashion styling. First I searched my closet, and then I came to my senses.
You don’t go to a conference as a DIY blogger, and not wear things handmade. So I got to work. More on the rest of my outfit, as well as the rest of my Alt Summit handmade awesomeness later. But let’s start with the easy part, my hair clip.
Why? Because it took me 5 minutes to make – and looks like a million bucks.
5 Minute Fancy Comb DIY.
The key to this awesome comb is actually not so much in the DIY, but rather in the notion / trim. If you have the right trim, you can make just about any barrette or comb you want in under 5 minutes! Here is the secret store I found, and am loving (and is also breaking my wallet because I cannot stop ordering from them!!).
And no, this is not a sponsored post. I just stumbled across this awesome on-line store and need to shout it to the world. Because I know you are going to love it as much as I do.
- Hair Comb
- Beaded or Sequin Applique
- Fabric Glue, or other craft glue like E6000
- Binder Clips
Step One: Gather your supplies and make sure the top of your comb is clean.
Step Two: Apply a thins trip of glue to the back center of your appliqué, the same length as your comb.
Step Three: Attach comb to appliqué, and use the binder clips to hold together until dry.
And you are done! Easy peasy lemon squeezy. Not breaking the bank with this DIY, but if nothing else – you just discovered the best new sequin trim store ever on-line. You’re welcome :).
Thanks so much for stopping by, and until next time…
