I’m a goodship, lollipop – it’s a sweet trip to the candy shop…
I can’t help it! Every time I see the name of this dress, that song goes on repeat in my head. The Goodship Dress pattern by Circus Wear is a vintage style sewing pattern with a classic sailor neckline, paired with a modern A-line frame. Top it all off with a gorgeous front bow, and you are sure to make every little girl smile.
With the holidays around the corner, I decided to get festive with this pattern. I had some Walk in the Woods, by Aneela Hoey for Moda in Icing fabric sitting around from last year – which I knew would look perfect peeking out from a bold red twill.
The end result is Christmas magic.
The Goodship Dress.
This dress pattern, as with all things Karen LePage does, is pure perfection. From its detailed graphics in the pattern instructions, to its wearable ease, you will find this dress easy to sew. Furthermore, it yields fantastic, professional looking results. The dress itself is sleeveless, which is why I paired it with a cardi for cooler temperatures. I also curved the collar to turn it from a sailor collar, to a larger curved collar. This suits my eldest’s style better – while still keeping with the same over-sized collar appeal of the pattern.
I believe a beginner seamstress could easily conquer sewing this dress. So long as you can already sew a straight line, you can sew this dress! You will also learn new techniques along the way, as Karen goes over french seams and the perfect square corner turn.
Offered from sizes 2T thru 14yrs, the Goodship Dress is a fun pattern to have in your collection.
