After recently stumbling across the coolest sewing machine invention I had ever seen, it made me start to wonder. What other super cool sewing related technology is out there that I had yet to discover?! I did a little bit of research, and here is what I found…
I mean, this stuff is interesting. Am I right?
10 Cool Sewing Inventions
Talk about making sure your hems are nice and evenly pressed. COOL. No more guessing when it comes to ironing that curved seam!
So you press down on the top of the needle, and the eye expands for easy threading. Ummmm, amazing. Why hasn’t anyone thought of this before?!!
Imagine a sewing machine that can color match, turning white thread into the color of your choosing. This is like the home depot paint station and my passion for sewing mixed together and turned into one awesome dish. Mind = blown.
Want to make a fully functioning Tron suit this Halloween? You might want to start here. It conducts electricity.
I am not really sure how I would use this, other than to make things for biking / running at night. But – cool cool cool.
Now THERE is a sewing machine I might actually travel with. Furthermore, there is a sewing machine my husband might actually like. So innovative. I love it! Imagine the looks you would get at your local sewing class when you pulled that bad boy out of your bag like a laptop – HA!
It knits a scarf in a year. I am so in love with everything about that. I might need one for my studio…just because. Imagine the conversation…
You: What kind of clock is that?
Me: A knitting clock.
You: What?
Me: You heard me.
A thin plastic strip that bends like metal, then retains its shape. Oh the possibilities…hoop skirts, cool collars, couture like sleeve creations. I bet its dry clean only though. Lol
Glue Guns are so yesterday, let me go get my glue pen.
Not only is it sleek looking, but this machine has the option to use speed sponsor technology. Allowing you to control how fast it sews, by how fast you push the fabric through the machine. It also boasts an easier way to thread the machine. I don’t know…but it sure is pretty!
And there you have it! Ten pretty dang awesome sewing related inventions.
I want to see these on Shark Tank.

Pretty sure I need that clock! When you were wearing it you would have such amazing bragging rights!! (You could say, “It took me a long time!” ~ groan, I couldn’t help myself!)

The wide eye sewing needle would be wonderful to have! Where can you get them??
Sew many of them I want! Now! They are all brilliant.
I haven’t checked on all of these nifty items but some of them, like the illuminating ribbon & shape-retaining plastic, are available now at https://www.inventables.com. Calling some thing an invention does not mean it’s in development. I suspect all of these products are available now somewhere!

I would love to have any one of these fantastic inventions. If you need someone to try them out, I am more than ready. Thank you for bring all of them to my attention. I will be looking for them in the marketplace.
I’m pretty sure guterman, coats and clarks and aurifil as well as all the other thread folks, would try to do everything in their power to stop that mazing machine that changes the color of ones thread from taking over. It’s so amazing! all of the items on this list are incredible.
Amazing, I have never seen any of these before. ty
The knitting clock is really cool, and for those of us who don’t knit (raises hand) a lovely way to pretend that you do!
I have used conductive thread to light TINY lights (only two of them) and it really does work. The hardest part is reading the + and – signs on the lights. Yes, I had to redo them to get the current working correctly, but it’s pretty darned cool!
I wd love to own the wooden sewing machine or the sq one. They are a pc of art
Simply amazing…as I close in on the back 1/2 of the 60’s, I am so impressed with what’s new…could a 3-D printer make these & other items?
I love to match my fabrics I buy to a certain color of thread, but sometimes you can’t find the perfect shade. So it would be great to have one universal color-changing thread that would change to the color that you need!
I wonder about the conductive thread being used in theater – much less obtrusive and probably more comfortable to hook up a batter and mike…
So amazingWhere can you buy them. Love the iron and sewing machine plus the colour coded macmine
I will love to buy that fantastic sewing machine. How and where can I buy it?
I love the folding sewing machine! Can you imagine taking that to a sewing retreat somewhere where you have to get on a plane…. lol… the security would be like???? It’s a what? You would have to take it out and show how it works cause you know that they wouldn’t believe you! lol
I guess these cool sewing machines are not for purchasing, but I would like to know how they work. I’d love to have more information about them.
Whoa, those are so amazing!! Seriously… mind blown!! 🙂 Lisa
