I was going through my Halloween content recently, when I realized…holy smokes – I have made a BUNCH of Halloween crafts over the years! Like way more than I ever thought I would, considering costume sewing used to be one of my least faves. But between the blog, and other companies I work with that look for Halloween content each year, it starts to pile up.
I guess having kids, handmade costumes kind of grow on you. You see, your kids wear these dress up items way more than any dress you ever sew. Like every-day-way-more. It starts to make it worth it, and it starts to change your heart slowly but surely towards the art of costume crafting. To the point where you simply cannot wait to see their face when you show them the new fairy wings you crafted, and then to watch them try to fly as they jump off the bed in them. You know – the truly important things in life.
I decided to compile a list so that they would all be in one place using Flipboard. This way I can easily add new content that I know is coming over the next few weeks before Halloween is here.

And there you have it, the Sewing Rabbit Handmade Halloween Magazine. Check back as more content is added over the next few weeks. I already know of some SUPER CUTE costumes going live over at the DIY Network during the next few weeks (like the flamingo and witch costume pictured here – tutes coming soon!). Eek – one of them I am absolutely in love with :).
Thanks so much for stopping by, and until next time…
Happy Sewing!
So awesome, Jess! And you’re right, costumes do grow on you. Or at least me. My first two kids lived in costumes. They would go everywhere in them. The cutest thing was that many adults loved to play along. You could tell, it brought them joy to see kids out on an ordinary day in costume. That was such a magical time. My younger kids haven’t quite caught the costume bug in the same way as my first two did. But I can now appreciate the ‘art of costume crafting’ as you called it. and even if they aren’t worn daily as they once were, i hope my kids will remember they had some pretty cool costume as kids! 🙂
