Spring 2014 Trends and Ideas

Jo-Ann Spring Trends

Want to know what fabrics and fashions are on the horizon for Spring 2014 Trends?  Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft Stores is kicking off something new today, with an upcoming Trends & Ideas LookBook!  The 2013 Sewing Rabbit Team and I were honored to be asked to be a part of the inaugural magazine, and worked together to create inspirational projects that reflected the themes presented.

We have been sitting on this secret for more than 4 months now.

It was quite a challenge holding our tongues all of this time, but without further ado – we give you the Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft Stores 2014 Spring Trends and Ideas.

Spring 2014 Trends & Ideas

Projects for the LookBook were contributed by the 2013 Sewing Rabbit Team and myself, for Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft Stores…

Romantic

Spring 2014 Trends and Ideas

Palak Shah of Make it Handmade made this fabulous quilt tutorial reflecting the Romantic Theme.

The romantic theme includes: linen, sheer, silk, satin, and chiffon all in pastels or sorbet colors. With details like Floral, Bows, Lace-work, Ombre, and Cut-Out.

See the Spring Baby Blanket sewing tutorial here.

Batik

Photoshoot2

Farrah Gee of Mingo & Grace made these incredible tribal themes baskets for the Batik Theme.

The Batik Theme includes: fabric like canvas, wool & burlap in Brazilian bright and tribal colors. Details that include lots of embroidery, dip dyes, geometrics, print over print and more. Think bright, saturated colors.

See the Batik Storage Basket tutorial here.

Dazzling Blue

photoshoot5

Celina Bailey of Petit à Petit and Family made a gorgeous ombre jumpsuit to help celebrate the Dazzling Blue theme.

Dazzling Blue includes: denim and all other fabrics in this rich inky blue color, full of rich saturation.  It seems to be the color of the season (regardless of what Pantone says), it is seen throughout all apparel, accessories and fabrics this Spring.

See the Girl’s Ombre Jumpsuit Dip Dye Tutorial here.

Metallic

012-Sewbon_umbrella_Katie_Hellinger_Film_Wedding_Photographer

Erin Sundet of Sewbon had some fun with metallics, adding gold polka dots to her clear umbrella!

Metallics include everything shiny, seemingly paired with black and white. You are seeing it on collars and sleeves, embellishment, studs & trims, and of course all manner of accessories.

See how you can add polka dots to your umbrella here.

Summer Celebration

And I chose the Summer Celebration Theme, where everyone from beginners to experts are crafting, baking and sewing looks to individualize their parties! From handmade weddings to birthday parties, the art of DIY decor is everywhere!

Thank you so much to Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft Stores for inviting us to be a part of your inaugural Trend & Ideas LookBook, it was truly our honor. It was bittersweet working with the 2013 team on this final hurrah as we finished out the year together, and I am touched beyond words being able to share it with you now.

Please be sure to stop by all of their sites, if you haven’t already, and follow them as they continue their sewing journey. And let them know how much you ADORE their work, I couldn’t have done this without them. They are quite simply…amazing.

See the entire Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores 2014 Spring Trends & Ideas LookBook here.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and until next time…

Happy Sewing!
