I have a bit of a confession to make. I am obsessed with gold polka dots lately. I want to put them on everything! You saw them on my Thanksgiving table DIY, I made a dress with some awesome Michael Miller Fabric glitz fabric (coming soon), and basically everything I look at lately translates in my head as…this would be soooo much better with some gold polka dots on it.
It is becoming a problem. (not really)
Either which way, I took one look at an old white knit hat and knew it was in for an overhaul.
Gold Polka Dot Hat DIY
You can add Gold Polka Dots to just about any basic knit hat, with the exception of big chunky hand knit ones. And it only takes about 5 minutes, minus the drying time. All you need is a round stamp or sponge brush, and some metallic gold fabric paint.
I went the extra mile and used some additional fabric glitter spray, to make sure it truly sparkled.
(PS, my head is NOT actually the size of a basketball. At least I don’t think it is…Ha!)
- *Optional, wrap your hat around a round object so that you can paint the polka dots in one go, rather than waiting for 1 side to dry and then flipping.
- Using the fabric paint and round sponge stamp, dab the sponge stamp in the metallic paint and press firmly onto the hat in various places.
- *Optional, for extra glitter and shine, spray on Fabric Glitter Spray on top of polka dots. Let dry.
Now just slip that fun little hat on your head and go be awesome.
Psst…did you know that a nice snug adult size hat can easily be turned into a slouchy hat for your little one? Neither did I until after this photo shoot.
Thanks so much for stopping by, and until next time…
