Recently I had the pleasure of sewing up a Sis Boom Shannon Dress Pattern. I liked this simple shift dress because it was a classic that incorporated nice touches to make it unique. The notched neckline and drop waist gave the dress character, and allowed me to showcase some fun fabric pairings.
The fabric used was Full Moon Lagoon by Mo Bedell Seahorses in Aqua, and Wrenly by Valorie Wells Rosette in Cherry.
It was actually much easier than anticipated to sew together. For some reason I had it in my head that the neckline was going to be a bear. I kid you not, I was done with this dress from cut to hem in under 2 hours. I used some simple techniques to help speed up the process – like the no pre-iron bias tape technique, and I definitely serged my way to the finish for all seams. But I love the result.
My daughters have been traveling for the past week vacationing with their Mima, and I simply cannot wait for them to get home so I can show my eldest her new seahorse dress. She is going to flip!
Thanks to Scientific Seamstress for giving me such a fun pattern to work with. If you have a moment, you should hop on over and check out her etsy shop. She has a bunch of fun women’s, children’s, and even some boys and men patterns to peruse.
Thanks so much for stopping by, and until next time…
