Spring Collection 2013
I can’t make new clothes for Ben without adding in some upcycled T-Shirt pants. These are quite possibly one of my favorite things to sew, ever. They are just so easy to make, and yield such great results. Furthermore he loves wearing them because they are so comfy. Did I mention that once you get the hang of it you can also whip them out in less than 30 minutes?
You can’t beat that. Seriously, I love these pants.
For Ben’s pants I used some old Polo shirts that were thrifted from our local Salvation Army.
I like to use the heavier knit materials so that the pants have a bit of substance to them. Another benefit of using the thicker knits is that you don’t have to worry about slippery or wonky waved knits when sewing.
Its not like jersey kits, where you are very gently feeding it though. So long as you aren’t pulling the thicker knit or polo material, it probably won’t wave. And of course if you are upcycling like I did, you don’t have to worry about the hem at all – simply use the bottom of the T-Shirt when cutting! Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
How can I resist that face? Gah, he kills me every time.
My little man.
I didn’t do a tutorial for these, as there are already so many great ones out there. Here is a quick Round Up filled with some of my favorites…
Be sure to hop over and check them out, some of them are truly fantastic!
Thanks so much for stopping by, and until next time…
Happy Sewing!

Great minds must think alike, Jess! Ha! I am doing my own week full of girl’s pants posts and round-up starting today! And you know what pants are included in that list? Your Riding Pants! Love your round-up of easy knit pants. I see a pair or two that would be great to make as a baby gift! Thanks!
Oh how sweet is he! Great upcycle, I’ve seen a couple polo projects I need to hit my thrift store!
Agreed! Of all the things I sew, pajama pants always get the most wear! Yours are adorable & comfy!
Oh, his sweet little face! I just want to ruffle his hair and show him frogs. I don’t even know.
I looooove upcycling and using existing hems. The best ever.

These pants are super, actually something i may actually be able to sew. Ben makes the perfect little model by the way. thankyou for the idea.
I know there isn’t a tutorial, but is there a pattern I can print to use for cutting the fabric? So cute! And do I need a special “walking” foot to sew with knits?
