Homage to the Once Upon a Thread Series…Up and Down by Oliver Jeffers

IMG_2893

Kicking off the 2012 Spring Collection, I wanted to start with one of my personal favorites.

We recently received the book Up and Down by Oliver Jeffers, and I instantly fell in love with this sweet story of friendship. I loved it so much, that I knew I wanted to do more with this book – to recreate it somehow. And with visions of Once Upon a Thread going through my head, an idea was born.

IMG_2815

There is just something so sweet about the friendship between the penguin and the little boy. That a penguin would dare to fly, reminds us that no dream is too big…

IMG_2826

That this little boy would do anything to help his friend achieve his dream…

And then be there at all costs to catch him if he falls…

It’s just so sweet, and touches a chord in all of us. After all…

Tomorrow I will share the pattern and tutorial for making the Up and Down penguin, and later on in the week I will share how I made the Penguin’s helmet and little boy’s shirt.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and until next time…

Happy Sewing!

So cute and fun! Looks like I need to check out that book (and not let Ansley see how cute that penguin is until I have time to make one). And Ben is just getting cuter and cuter. 🙂
