My baby is 5!!!
I cannot believe it…where does the time go? Turning 5, starting school, even starting soccer this week! They get so big so fast! Just 5 years ago today I was going into the hospital to be induced, with no idea of how my life would change. How my life would go from something basically revolving around myself and my husband, to revolving around that precious little bundle in my arms. My firstborn.
Suddenly ‘me’ doesn’t matter anymore, all that matters is taking care of and protecting that little babe. How just watching her sleep, and smelling that newborn smell can bring you such peace and joy. It didn’t matter how long she kept me awake at night, how long she would cry for, or how many dirty diapers I had to change…because it was all worth it when she would give me that smile, or clasp onto my finger with her tiny hand. And oh….how she loved to hold hands. She would need to play with or hold my hand just to fall asleep for years. It gave me such joy!
There is nothing quite like your firstborn, because it is the only time in your life when you really get to focus on that one child. As you have more, you love them just as much of course, but you never really get that quiet time, that focus time back. No other pregnancies do you get to just enjoy, no other first steps do you get to just wait for, no other child do you just worry over because you don’t know what you are doing, that is all reserved for your firstborn. Every other child gets the benefit of experience, and your children get the joy of playing with each other and loving their siblings…but oh does time fly, and for me I seem to realize it as I watch our oldest grow.
It is really just a variation of the Jackie O Dress, with the button placket on the back. I altered it to be a perfectly fitting bodice, nipping and tucking it while trying it on her during designing. I also switched out the pleated skirt for a double layered 8 panel circle skirt. And made the bow back sash, instead of the bow front. Lastly, I brought the neckline down in front and covered the neckline and armholes with bias tape.
And what a wonderful time the birthday girl had…
Happy Birthday Baby Doll…Mommy loves you today and always!
Thank you so much for stopping by, and until next time…
