With the new baby boy on the way, it was time to start moving away from the pink diaper bags…which led me to today’s Remix.
I had made Amy Butler’s Cosmo Bag before for Sew Mama Sew‘s Super Style Bag Swap (pictured here on the left), and I fell in love with it! Let me tell you, this bag is GINORMOUS!!! The perfect travel tote, overnight bag, or perfect purse for those of us that just like BIG bags. And for the Mom with 3 kids under the age of 5, this fit the bill for my new diaper bag. But as us Mommas know, the more pockets…the better!
Which is when I decided to add what I like to call, ‘the kangaroo pocket’ to the front and back – giving us our Pattern Remix for today!
I now have a nifty new extra large pocket on the front and back to store all sorts of things…burp cloths, diapers, changes of clothes, used gum wrappers, happy meal toys…you name it, it will get stuck in there! Lol.
Either way, I love it. Any bag that can possibly fit my eldest daughter inside of it is good for me!
I am not going to smile…
And that’s what I think about that…
Oh wait, wait….that’s actually kind of funny…
To make the Cosmo Bag with the Kangaroo Pocket, you will need:
After all, attitude is all in the purse…lol
Thanks so much for stopping by for today’s Pattern Remix.
Looking for more pocket tutorials? Catch me hanging with my friends today over at The Girl Creative, showing off how to make an inverted pocket pleat!
I hope to see you back here tomorrow, Sisters of the Wild West will be stopping by and you wont want to miss what they have in store for you!
Til next time, Happy Sewing!

The shape of the bag really lends itself to kangaroo pockets..looks great!
Hope you had a great weekend Jessica! I love that bag….the size is awesome! And the pattern is fab. I am headed to check out the tutorial now 🙂
This looks like something I am going to need soon with my third child coming. I can relate with your three kids under 5, mine will be three under 3! I am sure with the baby girl I will need my diaper bag more often than I do now with my twin boys. I will have to check out this pattern! Love your remix!!
Great purse! Pockets are the best! Love the fabrics you chose.

Hey,
Are you selling this bag? Or one like it? I LOVE it and would LOVE to buy one that looks just like this..same fabric, pattern, design…every.thing!!!
Let me know girl! Thanks!
Ashley
Thanks for your kind words Ashley! Unfortunately, the Cosmo Bag is not my original design – but rather Amy Butler’s. So it would be going against copyright issues to make and sell her bag. But I really appreciate your comments, and if you know anyone who sews – just give them the book Style Stitches and point it out :). The fabric I used is all Amy Butler too….keeping it in the family this post…lol

Love the pocket! I just made my second Cosmo Bag and used your pattern piece, the kangaroo pocket is a fantastic addition! I posted it on my blog and linked it back to your post so that others could revel in your genius! http://fiftieswife.blogspot.com/
This is great I’ve had the book from Amy Butler for years but never did this bag. I went as far as cutting the pattern out and buying all the supplies! So now with the craziness I thought I would take out the project. I start cutting my pieces and realize quickly that I have lost the handle pattern piece. I am wondering if you could just send me a pdf of the handle piece. I love love love the pockets you made and will incorporate something similar. Thank you for any help.
