4 Calling Birds
3 French Hens
2 Turtle Doves
and a Partridge in a Pear Tree
If you saw my post yesterday, I had a bit of dye-saster on my hands…literally. So it ended up that I have three different shades of Green Onesies for this project, instead of the initial plan of just Kelly Green., But no worries, still looks cute 🙂
So here we go, days two through five of Christmas…
The wonderfully creative sisters over at Pigtails paper Trails were feeling festive and gave a free download template with 2 Turtle Doves, so this was easy – YEAH! I scaled the image to fit my onesie, and cut out the 2 turtle doves using them as my pattern piece.
Once again, as instructed in Day 1, I then used fusible interfacing for all pattern pieces and sewed them directly onto the Onesie (being sure not to sew through the back).
On the Third Day of Christmas my true love gave to me, 3 FRENCH HENS:
For the 3 French Hens I did a Google image search under ‘3 french hens’ and came up with a bunch of great stuff. I decided to go a more simplified route when I saw these coloring pages. Also using them as basic pattern pieces.
On the Fourth Day of Christmas my true love gave to me, 4 CALLING BIRDS:
A lot of images with birds using cell phones out there, no joke! Lol. After some searching I found an image I liked over at ModCloth. I admit, I did these by free hand, looking at the images on the computer and kind of ad-libbing them. But I am sure they can be printed and used as pattern pieces as well. I also used a fabric marker to give the birds their cute little eyes with eyelashes, I just couldn’t bring myself to leave that part out 🙂
On the Fifth Day of Christmas my true love gave to me, FIVE GOLDEN RINGS! Ba, ba, ba (horns playing)
Quite honestly, this is probably my least favorite so far. Maybe it is because I decided to stick with the color yellow/gold for the rings, instead of keeping it within the Christmas colors I had originally decided to work with. I don’t know, but there it is, right in the middle of the line up. 5 Golden rings. Cutting 5 circles, I placed them in an order I didn’t mind and sewed ’em up. Was going to go with an intertwined look, but it felt to Olympicy to me (that’s my word – that’s right – Olympicy feeling).
And there you have it, we are not quite half way done, but getting there!
And I know this is going to make the cutest gift set when it is finished…
