I am so in love with this baby dress! With my friend’s baby shower looming, I got to work on some newborn baby clothing…and what new Mom doesn’t love seeing their precious bundle in adorable baby dresses? Naturally, the sweetheart dress by Very Shannon was an obvious choice. With it’s open back heart, it would make for perfect baby photos. The pattern isn’t offered in baby 0-3 months, but with a few pattern alteration sizing, it was easy to grade.

Make this Look:
- Pattern: Sweetheart Dress by Very Shannon
- Fabric: Nani Iro 2012- Peaceful Cooing – Double Gauze
- 1/4″ Double Fold Bias Tape
As mentioned previously, this pattern was sized down for 0-3 months using self-drafting methods. You can find a great pattern grading tutorial HERE if needed. Furthermore, the pattern calls for a fully lined bodice. With the double gauze fabric, I wanted to ensure that my dress would still be light-weight for Summer – so I did not line the dress. Instead, I added the bias tape around the neckline and heart back opening to finish all raw edges – which meant that I needed to subtract seam allowance from the pattern for these edges. For the sleeves, I added a small flutter cap sleeve, which was not necessary…but added that little extra girly something :).
I am personally in love with this dress, and am so excited to give it to my friend at her shower.
Thanks so much for stopping by, and until next time…
