Recently I had the honor of taking part in the brand new Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft Stores Spring Idea Market, and was tasked with the ‘Letter Market’ category. We are talking giant cardboard letters, marquees, monograms and more. It was pretty cool, and as a result, you can now see my name on the bottom of your Jo-Ann’s receipt after shopping in the store – lol! (I am not kidding, I had no idea until friends contacted me with their receipt in hand!).
As always, I love collaborating with Jo-Ann Fabrics. They are such a great company to work with, and I feel like I have been shopping at their store for my entire life. So when I say it is an honor to take part in something with them, I really MEAN it. It is more like a dream come true, every single time. I get to do what I love for a living, I mean – how cool is that?!! Can anyone ask for anything more in life? I digress…
One of the projects I came up with was a gorgeous Mr. & Mrs. Wedding Letter Banner. I would’ve loved to have had something like this hanging up at my wedding reception, it is so beautiful – and SO EASY TO MAKE!!! Let’s get crafting.
Mr. & Mrs. Wedding Letter Banner.
- ‘M’ ‘R’ ‘M’ ‘R’ ‘S’ – 12” paper mache letters
- (2) 1 1/2” Craft Ribbon
- Gold Paint
- Paint Brush
- Gold Glitter
- Hot Glue / Glue Gun
- *Optional – clear varnish spray paint
Gather supplies as listed.
On a protected surface, paint your paper mache letters around the front and sides evenly. Repeat for all letters. Painting the back of each letter is recommended only if it will be seen when hanging.
*Optional, for a ‘cleaner’ sign – you may wish to spray it with a clear varnish. This will help the glitter from getting everywhere. When using spraypaint, make sure you do it outside in a well ventilated area. Allow to dry fully.
Apply a thin line of hot glue to the back of each letter. Attach letter immediately to the ribbon, and allow hot glue to dry (a couple of minutes). Repeat for all letters, for both ‘Mr’ & ‘Mrs’ signs.
Fray check the bottom of the dangling ribbon underneath the sign.
And you are finished! Hang your sign for the happy couple. Looks great on the back of wedding chairs, or hanging on a wall or door! Perfect for a handmade wedding, rehearsal dinner, or bridal shower!
Thanks so much for stopping by, and until next time…
