SCHOOL STARTS TODAY! Can anyone do backflips with me? I know, I know…I will miss Summer. And as much as I love having the kids home with me, it was t – i – m – e. With back to school though comes fun clothes shopping, backpack sewing, and of course – catching up on our long-lost blog reading! WOO HOO!
To kick off the Back to School Season right, I thought it would be fun to beef up our sewing blog reading list. I asked some of my friends to list their favorite sewing blog reads…the ones they felt might be under the radar (for now), but that you oughta know about. Here were their top ten picks.
Rachel is pretty amazing, and I have been a fan of hers now for a good couple of months. With 5 kids, some whom are adopted, her family is quite simply beautiful all in itself. But her sewing….be-steal my heart! I have tried, and TRIED, to get her in STYLO…but with a newborn it is pretty impossible. Maybe some day :). If you don’t already know Stitched Together, you really should!
Sanae, oh Sanae how I love you so. Why the whole world does not know about her yet is beyond me. Sanae is one of those people who simply oozes talent, yet she manages to be so REAL with her heartfelt posts and truths. You will love following along with this incredible wife, mother, designer, seamstress, illustrator, and artist. See more of Sanae’s work HERE.
Stitched by Crystal was one of the sewing bloggers listed by my friends most frequently, how have I not heard of her yet?! Her children’s apparel sewing blog was one gorgeous photo after another of truly unique creations. I was blown away, and so excited to add her onto my must-read list!
Ok – Lily is AMAZING. Mode de Lis features gorgeous handmade vintage creations, often inspired by the 1930s thru 50s. This seamstress of 12+ years blows me away with her historical creations, beautiful photography, and general know how. I love her, and I know you will too!
Have you met Olu yet? She has thrown down the sewing gauntlet, and is making all of her daughter’s clothes for a full year. And what is more? Grey is her favorite color! Eek – Needle and Ted is a beautiful sewing blog, with style, fun, and just the right amount of whimsy for any kids wardrobe.
Dotta, I am in love with you. This Italian sewing blogger has caught my eye in a big way, and I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next. What’s more is every blog post she writes is translated by HER (not Google Translate), so you have Italian on the top, and the English translation below. Now that is dedication. See more of Dotta Sews here.
Sophie of C’est la Vie has absolutely stolen my heart. An incredible French seamstress and photographer, she sews women’s and children’s apparel, purses and bags, and even quilts. Furthermore, she does it all with beauty and grace. Every time I visit her blog it is like looking at my own personal sewing magazine. She is everything a quality sewing blog represents, and I am in love with her!
Sew Shelly Sew also came highly recommend from my friends, and I am super excited to get to know Shelly better! After taking a look at her blog, I really resonated with her style and am excited to follow along! I mean, anyone who puts a pop of lime green zipper with her striped pants (and then has a tutorial to go along with it), has me at hello.
Nikki is not quite a small sewing blogger, hello – she sews for MOOD. But she is new to me, and I was hooked immediately upon entering her blog! Beaute’ J’adore shows us that sewing for women can be stylish, chic, and most importantly…ACHIEVABLE. Her ease and style is timeless sophisticate, and I love that she manages to showcase her DIYs in a such a way that we can follow along.
This Ohio Mom living in London has us all mesmerized with her adorable sewing, family travels, and adventures. We are hooked, and dare I say it – living vicariously through her photos. You can follow along on her adventures here.
And there you have it. Ten incredible sewing blogs to start reading NOW.
You’ll thank me later.
