The Easy DIY 3/4 Sleeve Dress
Today I want to share with you a very easy tutorial for my Go-To-Top. The completed garment I used in this tutorial is a dress for my toddler, but the same process can be used to make a top or dress for yourself.
This top is actually one of the very first projects I learned to sew way back in the 1980’s when everything was pleated, drapey and/or had dolmen sleeves. (I swear my mom created the MC Hammer Pants, before Hammer made them kind of cool) It is literally the easiest thing I have ever sewn. I think it may take longer to cut it out than it takes to actually sew it up – so be sure to make a pattern to help speed up the process.
After years of making this top, it has evolved into a pretty timeless staple in my wardrobe. This is the easiest project you will ever sew in under 30 minutes. Let’s get to it, shall we?
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Fabric – At least 1 yard of any fabric that will drape depending on how long you want the top to be. KNITS WORKS BEST, but I have made this top in a woven fabric without any problems.
- A T-Shirt that fits well as a guide (not too loose, not too tight).
And you are finished!
Thanks so much for stopping by, and until next time…
